Senior Spotlight: Vince Ragona

While senior Vince Ragona, two-time captain of the DLS Wrestling Team is a two-time state qualifier, his accomplishments also include extensive academic achievements.

He is both Academic All-State and Academic All-American this year, in addition to his fourth consecutive All-County team recognition.

Vince will graduate magna cum laude with the De La Salle Collegiate Class of 2025, with a transcript that includes Advanced Placement (AP) courses) in American Government and Psychology as well as Honors and Advanced courses.

Faculty member Mr. Thaier Mukhtar said, “Vince is a fine young man who comes from a wonderful loving family. Like his brothers, Vince worked very hard to achieve academic success. He was a pleasure to have in class two years in a row. He has the charisma and the intelligence to reach his goals in life. He is a very personable young man and has made brothers for life here at DLS. He will be greatly missed, but I have no doubt he will be a Pilot for life.”

Vince plans to attend Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and major in Business. Vince says “I chose GVSU over the others because I enjoy the campus and the overall community that Grand Valley has.

In addition to GVSU, Vince was accepted at Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Western Michigan University, Oakland University, and West Virginia University.

Vince lives in Warren and attended Carter Middle School. His older brothers attended DLS - Dominic Ragona (Class of 2021) and Frank Ragona (Class of 2017), and Vince decided to follow in their footsteps.

In addition to his wrestling accomplishments, Vince was also a DECA state finalist in 2024.

Besides being on the Honor Roll, he is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, the LInk crew, and a Brozone leader at DLS athletic events. He played football for DLS his first three years.

He advises freshmen to “enjoy every moment because it flies by before you realize it.”

And not surprisingly, his best memory of DLS will be going to the state finals.

Vince’s parents are Paul and Renee Ragona, and the family attends St. Martin de Porres Parish (Warren).
