Sister Kathleen Matz Heading DLS Campus Ministry

Sister Kathleen Matz, CDP, most recently employed by the Archdiocese of Detroit, is now one of two Campus Ministers. She will be joined by Brother Carl Malacalza, who taught Math and Computer Science at DLS from 1976-1986, in mid-September.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Sister Kathleen served the AOD for 28 years as the Associate Director in the Office of Discipleship Formation. She also had experience as a director of religious education as well as elementary teaching experience. Sister Kathleen taught at St. Isaac Jogues (St. Clair Shores) and Our Lady Queen of Peace (Harper Woods), in the 70’s and early 80’s.

“After 28 years, I was interested in another form of ministry,” she said. “Providentially, I was invited to be the Campus Minister at DLS. The timing was perfect, and I received a warm and friendly welcome.”

The Campus Ministry Office not only organizes liturgies and retreats, but also service projects throughout the school year.

Sister Kathleen is a member of the Congregation of the Divine Providence (CDP), and lives in Roseville with another DLS staff member, Sister Pat Eeckhout, also a CDP, who works in the DLS Business Office. Sr. Pat worked several years in the DLS English Department.
