Congratulations to De La Salle Collegiate Parker Josephs, Class of 2026, who has earned Eagle Scout status. Parker’s project, an urban garden for St. Jude Parish in Detroit, was approved by his troop’s board of review on October 30. His induction ceremony is scheduled for December 11.
His garden project involved adding dirt and three compost bins to the existing garden, building four benches, a birdhouse, and a sign for the front of the property.
Parker has been involved with scouting since the first grade. His current troop of about 30 boys meets at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church. He has earned 41 merit badges, and plans to earn many more before completing his scouting activities at the end of his senior year. He has recently joined the honor society of scouting, called Order of the Arrow.
At De La Salle, Parker is involved with the Student Council, the Rocketry Club, the Ski and Snowboard Club, and the E-Sports team where he plays in the Rocket League.
He is also a member of the DLS Bowling and Lacrosse teams. During the summer of 2023, Parker attended a lacrosse camp at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Parker is currently taking flight lessons at Crosswinds in Pontiac and has an interest in attending either Embry-Riddle University in Florida, noted for its aeronautical programs, the Naval Academy, or the Air Force Academy.
He is also involved with a competitive rifle team in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and travels there monthly with his father.
Before attending De La Salle, Parker attended St. Paul on the Lake in Grosse Pointe Farms. He had been in public schools, but transferred to St. Paul for his eighth-grade year, concerned about his education during COVID shutdowns.
His parents are Tim Josephs and Lori Josephs.
