The De La Salle Collegiate Family - students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni, and friends of DLS - are invited to participate in the fifth annual “Steps for Scaps,” a fundraising walk held each year to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. 

The 2026 event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at Addison Oaks County Park (Leonard, MI). 

The charity walk celebrates the life of Alexander Scapini, Class of 2016, who tragically passed away in January 2022 following a battle with a brain tumor. 

The Pilots will celebrate Alex’s life, along with Alex’s parents, Dr. David Scapini and Karen Scapini. 

Funds from the event benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation whose mission is to drive research, expand knowledge, and advance care for the Neurofibromatosis (NF) community. 

NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, and affects approximately 4 million people worldwide. Unfortunately, there is presently no cure for this genetic disorder.
