The 2023 Annual Art and Music Showcase is Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 2- 6 p.m.
Talan Wall, De La Salle Collegiate Art teacher, said the show will utilize the school’s TARMAC (Library) for a variety of artistic exhibitions, while the Cafeteria will be used for live musical performances. Light refreshments will be available in the Commons area.
Wall said that approximately 75 of the 92 art students this year are submitting at least one piece, with work ranging from drawings, paintings, and videos. He noted that the number of students enrolled in Art classes more than doubled during the 2022-23 school year, compared to 2021-22.
The Art students are enrolled in a variety of classes, including semester courses (Introduction to Art, Digital Video, and Computer Graphics) and year-long courses (Studio, Advanced Studio, and Portfolio).
Wall is very excited about the number of students planning to submit portfolios to potential colleges. He said at least five are currently preparing their works for submission.
While primarily music students will be performing, there are some who are not in the band.
