Teachers Sharpen Skills, Expand AP and STEM Programs

Several DLS teachers have been or will be taking courses in preparation for the 2026-2027 school year, strengthening existing curriculum offerings and launching exciting new opportunities for students.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Readers

  • Catherine Leix will be serving as an AP grader in AP Calculus AB for the third summer in a row.
  • Mary Balamucki will be serving as an AP grader for AP Biology

Advanced Placement Teacher Training

  • Andrew Grauzer will attend training for AP Government
  • Dennis Koch is completing training for a new AP course in Business/Marketing Principles, expanding our business curriculum.
  • Samuel (Sam) Peterson, who currently teaches ninth-grade English, will be preparing to teach AP Literature and Composition.

Technology & Innovation Our commitment to cutting-edge programming continues:

  • Anne Hughes, who has a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instructional Technology with a certificate in Instructional design from Iowa State University, will complete training and become a licensed drone pilot via the FAA 107 test to teach our new drone course, Drones Technology & Unmanned Aircraft Systems. adding an exciting, hands-on technology pathway for students. Hughes will also complete Project Lead the Way training for Introduction to Engineering.  

Scott Husken recently completed training to teach Civil Engineering and Architecture, expanding opportunities in applied engineering fields.
