Three Tapped for National Rising Star Award

Congratulations to senior Mason Collins, junior Rhett Roeser, and sophomore John Tosch, all winners of the 2023 Rising Star award for their excellence in Academics, Athletics, Leadership, and Character. 

According to Counselor/School Psychologist Andrew Campbell, the three DLS nominees were selected from among applicants from five Michigan counties.

Collins, the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023, received a monetary award from the group. He is headed to the United States Naval Academy.  Read more.

Roeser carries a 3.77 GPA and is enrolled in a variety of Honors classes, including Spanish 3, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses including Biology, Computer Science, and English Language and Composition. Roeser plays football (running back) and is a pitcher and third baseman on the baseball team. The baseball programs at several colleges, including Duke, Alabama, Michigan, Stanford, and Harvard have expressed an interest in Roeser. 

He came to De La Salle from Anchor Bay North Middle School for the DLS academics and faith component. He plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field. He lives in New Baltimore with his parents Matt and Christine.

Tosch carries a 4.4 GPA, and is enrolled in a variety of honors courses. He is currently in the AP U.S. History class. This year he earned an award for General Excellence (ranked second in his class), made the Honor Roll, and was recognized for academic excellence in English, Spanish, History, Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Theology. He plays JV lacrosse and is on the DLS Cross-Country team. He would like to pursue a career in the medical field.

He attended Holy Family in Rochester, and lives in Rochester Hills with his parents, Jon ‘94 and Kim. His late grandfather was John Tosch ‘62, and his uncles are Jim ‘95 and Joe ‘97.
