The De La Salle Collegiate Training Room, located between the weight room and the Bill Fox Gymnasium hallway, underwent a total “facelift” during the summer.
Utilizing a donation from DLS alumnus Robert Smetanka, ‘69, and construction guidance from Paul Brillati, ‘90, and his company King Development, the room has several upgrades:
- One of the two doors into the hallway was bricked in, and a second door into the weight room was added. Trainer Nicole Zarucki noted part of rehabilitation for athletes also includes utilizing machines.
- New counters and cabinets
- New sink
- New office space
- Two new training tables
- Two new taping stations (previously, there was one)
- Central air-conditioning
Smetanka made the donation in honor of his family and Br. Patrick McNally. Smetanka enjoyed a successful 45-year career as an athletic trainer and physical therapist, which he credits to the initial direction from Br. Pat.
