WARREN, Mich. – Two De La Salle Collegiate students were recognized this spring for work they do in their parish community.
In March, juniors Christian Bueti and David Chomicz were among a dozen Detroit area high school students honored at the SERF Vicariate Youth recognition mass and reception at Saint Paul of the Lake in Grosse Pointe Farms.
Each of the students were awarded the SERF Vicariate Youth Service and Leadership Award on behalf of Detroit Archbishop Allen Vigneron, youth ministers, and priests in the SERF Vicariate.
These students were nominated from parish ministries for their leadership and service to their communities. Bueti and Chomicz were recognized for their youth leadership in many areas at Saint Joan of Arc in Saint Clair Shores.
Bueti is an altar server and has worked volunteer hours for the church’s vacation bible school and confirmation retreat. Chomicz installed new retaining-wall planters and landscaping around the front entrances of St. Joan of Arc. His beautification project helped him earn the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 273.
