Freshman Raises $ for Cancer Research

For De La Salle Collegiate freshman Mark Fratarcangeli what began as a school community service project in sixth grade is now an annual fundraiser benefiting pediatric cancer research.

As a middle schooler at Jefferson Middle School, in St. Clair Shores, Mark decided to fundraise for cancer research. A young cousin had been diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. The first year, Mark raised $350, and nearly quadrupled that in 2017 to $1250.

Since Mark enjoys hunting with his father and family friends, Mark decided to make his fundraiser a Charity Pheasant Hunt.

The 2018 event is held at the Rooster Ranch in Ubly, MI. The $250 entry fee for the Sunday, March 4, event includes breakfast, a tower shoot, and a walk up hunt. Lodging is also available.

To register, contact Mark at 586.243.5386 or email him at mfratarcangeli21@dlspilots.net.

His younger brother Gianni, now a seventh grader, is also working to promote the event.

And the young cousin diagnosed with brain cancer has made a full recovery.
