Golfers Take 5th Straight Macomb Championship

The DLS Varsity Golf Team won its fifth straight Macomb County Championship on April 30, outscoring the second place Utica Eisenhower team by six strokes. Senior Anthony Comito, headed to Oakland University’s golf team next fall, was the tournament medalist with a 72, three strokes better than the second place golfer. 

The 16-team tournament was held at Timberwood Golf Course in Ray Township. 

Also scoring for the Pilots: Ethan Tran, a freshman (76); Chris Comito, a sophomore (77), and Adam Burghardt, a freshman (80). Ethan and Chris joined Anthony in the top ten. 

In CHSL match play, the Pilots came back on May 1 with a home course victory at the Orchards over Brother Rice, 155-165. Anthony Comito again led the team with a 1 under 35 for the nine holes. The Pilots are undefeated thus far in the CHSL.

The Pilots are looking for a return to the State Finals, after missing a berth by three strokes in the 2017 regionals.
