WARREN, Mich. (Feb. 27, 2019) – For the third straight year, Anthony Killop will represent De La Salle Collegiate in the Michigan High School Power-Lifting Association’s state championships.

Killop, a junior, will be joined at the state finals by Pilots sophomore Nick Yee. The finals will be held at Ionia High School on March 9.

The two Pilots became state qualifiers at two different regional events.

Killop qualified in last month’s North Branch meet, finishing a top of the 145-pound weight class. He finished in second place in each of the last two state finals.

A first-time state qualifier, Yee finished in third place in the 181-pound weight class at Edwardsburg last weekend.

This is the fourth straight year that De La Salle has sent lifters to the state finals.

“We had a difficult season,” Pilots coach Brenton Castine said. “But these guys persevered through a huge amount of adversity – injuries, tough competition, losing a third of their training sessions to snow days, and more.”
