Senior Kevin McKay, who has started every varsity basketball game since his freshman year, has signed with Central Michigan University, a Division 1 program.
The 6’4″ shooting guard decided on CMU because “I like the coaches. They stuck with me through the recruiting process, kept in contact with me, and really wanted me there.”
Kevin carries a 3.7 GPA, and is undecided about his major.
He has received accolades each of the last three years for his playing ability:
- two-time All-Catholic, one-time All-League (freshman season)
- two time Macomb County First Team, one time Macomb County Fourth Team (freshman season)
DLS Varsity Basketball Coach Greg Esler said, “Kevin McKay could be the all-time leading scorer in DLS Basketball history this season. He averaged 20 points per game last season, and was a captain last year and again this year. In my humble opinion, Kevin is one of the top 5 players in the state of Michigan. He can drive, shoot, and defend. He is very athletic. He has a great attitude and is a great team player.”
Kevin has scored over 1,000 points in his career at DLS.
He attended Wyandotte Middle School in the Chippewa Valley schools, and currently lives in Warren with his mother, Cortney MacDonald.
