** NEW STUDENTS: Infinite Campus is our Student Information system that tracks grades, attendance, conduct, etc... ALL NEW Parents and Students have been sent an activation code to start activating their accounts. Students will activate their accounts when they attend a required Onboarding Session. The District code for the Campus Parent or Student phone app is 'De La Salle' (spaces in between) in Michigan.

Cell Phone Policy - 2026-27

Starting this school year, no personal technology devices are allowed to be used on the campus of De La Salle during school hours. This includes the following devices:

Cell Phones
Smartwatches
Smartglasses
Tablets
Laptops (non-chromebook)
Headphones

All personal technology devices must be stored in lockers from the time a student arrives on campus through the end of the school day.

This policy change is firmly rooted in The Lasallian Five Core Principles that serve as the foundation of our student handbook:

Faith in the Presence of God: Our mission calls students into a deeper awareness of their relationship with a loving God, encouraging them to see the world through "eyes of faith". Constant digital notifications create noise that distracts from reflection. Eliminating cell phones fosters the quiet headspace necessary for students to remember and experience the Holy Presence of God each day.

Concern for the Poor & Social Justice: We challenge our students to be aware of injustice and live out the vision of Gospel living: "Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve". Smartphones often introduce unnecessary social stratification, cyberbullying, and exclusion based on digital status. A phone-free environment acts as an equalizer, ensuring all students interact on a level playing field focused on community solidarity.

Respect for All Persons: Respect-filled relationships are at the very heart of a Lasallian education. True respect requires active listening and genuine presence. By removing the barrier of screens, we honor the dignity of peers and teachers alike, encouraging face-to-face eye contact and living out our daily mantra, "Live Jesus in our Hearts... Forever".

Quality Education: De La Salle provides an education that prepares students for college, career, and life, advancing their abilities to use their talents critically and productively. Because smartphones heavily diminish attention spans and cognitive capacity, removing this distraction ensures a high-focus environment dedicated to "Teaching Minds and Touching Hearts".

Inclusive Community: As a united community where diversity is respected and no one is left out, we want our communal spaces to be vibrant and welcoming. Without the isolation of individual digital bubbles, students are encouraged to look up, look out for one another, and build a more cohesive campus culture.

We view this policy not as a restriction but as a gift of time, focus, and connection for our young men. Further details regarding the specific logistics and expectations of the Personal Electronic Device Policy (SY 2026-2027) can be found in the designated section of the handbook which will be released August 1, 2026.

Attendance Policy 2026-27

All student absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals must be called into the Main Office (586-778-2207).

Absences: Messages can be left on the attendance line 24 hours/day. Please leave your son’s name, grade, date, reason for the absence, relationship to student and contact phone number. A doctor’s note is required if a student is absent for 3 days in a row.

Late Arrivals: Parents/Guardians must call the main office to report a late arrival for any reason. All late students must check in at the main office.

Early Dismissals: Parents/Guardians who need to release their son early must call the main office in the morning to request an early dismissal. If leaving a message, please include name, grade, date, reason, relationship to the student and contact phone number. Students leaving early will only be dismissed following bell schedule times. Please refer to the enclosed bell schedule.

Illnesses: If a student is sick and needs to leave early, he must report to the main office so we can promptly contact his parent/guardian. To ensure the safety of each student, DLS must obtain permission from the student’s parent/guardian.

ATHLETIC SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Attendance in all classes of each school day is required for students to be eligible to participate in practices and contests. A student who has an exempt absence for a school approved activity or personal reason is considered excused for hours not in attendance. Exceptions will be dealt with on an individual basis through the athletic department. Documentation of scheduled absences (e.g. dental appointment) is required for excusal.

Athletes who are absent or tardy the day after a contest can expect an unexcused absence for classes missed or tardy. Students that miss class(es) because of a late athletic contest the night before may be subject to suspension from up to the next two (2) athletic contests.

A student with an unexcused absence from school may not participate in the athletic contest or practice scheduled for that day. If a violation is discovered after that day’s contest, the student may not participate in the next scheduled contest. If the violation is discovered after the final contest of the season, the student may not participate in the first contest of the next season they compete in, or forfeit awards from the current season. Please refer to the DLS Student Handbook for the complete absence policy.

Credit Recovery/Summer School
Students who receive a failing grade(s) for the semester, must enroll in credit recovery course(s). This course is arranged by the counseling department through My Virtual Academy. All failing grades must be made up before a student is allowed to proceed to the next grade level and/or receive a diploma.

Chromebook License Charge

All students are required to have their own Chromebooks. We are a Google school, so Chromebooks are critical to the learning experience at De La Salle. Chromebooks can be purchased at any local box-store, such as Target, Best Buy or Walmart.

Frequently Asked Questions/Tips:

The technology department recommends NOT purchasing a refurbished Chromebook.
The technology department recommends purchasing insurance in addition to the Chromebook.
Anything other than a Chromebook is unacceptable. (iPads. Macs, laptops, cell phones, etc…) The school’s WiFi password will only be entered on Chromebooks.

Chromebook Licensing—NEW For 26-27

Each Chromebook in the school, whether it be student- or DLS-owned, is to be managed by the De La Salle Collegiate network. There is a $30 fee for each Chromebook license on our network. After the initial license is distributed to the student-owned Chromebook each subsequent student-owned Chromebook will be charged a $30 technology fee, added to the FACTS tuition account. This will apply to additional student-owned ChromeBooks after the initial one is placed on the network as well. Each student should only have 1 student-owned Chromebook on the DLS network at any given time.
