De La Salle Collegiate has a vital interest in maintaining a positive learning environment that is safe and healthy for all of its students.
At the start of each school year, every student is tested during the first two weeks. After this initial test, we will maintain the standard random hair-follicle testing throughout the year.
Substance abuse interferes with a child’s physical and emotional development and has the potential to affect those around him. Prevention, not punishment, is the primary focus of drug and alcohol testing. Testing is used to deter initial use and to identify anyone in need of help. This testing program works in concert with all De La Salle policies in the Student Handbook, including policies prohibiting the possession and use of drugs and illegal substances.
With the influx of drugs in our community and society, we are working hard to live out our mission of maintaining a positive learning environment that is safe and healthy for our students.
