Super Bowl Champ Godfrey Presents Golden Football

Chris Godfrey, DLS Class of 1975, presented De La Salle with a “Golden Football” this week, as part of the National Football League’s Celebration of the 50th Super Bowl.

A stand-out Pilot football player, Chris went on to play at the University of Michigan, and then played professionally for the New York Jets and the New York Giants. Chris was a starter for the Giants in Super Bowl XXI against the Denver Broncos.

Chris presented the Golden Football to Br. Jerome Stevens, FSC,¬†now retired, who was Principal of DLS when Chris was a student. He described Br. Jerome as his “first agent” as Br. Jerome touted Chris’s abilities to football recruiters from the University of Michigan.

Chris went on to earn a law degree at the University of Notre Dame, and founded Life Athletes.

For the last few years, Chris has spoken to seniors as part of their day-long “Legacy and Leadership” retreat.
