The De La Salle Swimming and Diving Team finished 5th at the Division 2 State Finals on Saturday, March 11, at Eastern Michigan University, medalling in 9 of the 12 events.

  • Junior Zach Milke won the 100 Backstroke; he finished 3rd in this event in 2016. *Broke his own school record set earlier this year with a time of 50.40.
  • Dan Frederick finished 4th in the 500 Free, breaking the school record he set in preliminaries. The previous DLS record was set in 1988 by Ron Yokubision at 4:41.60. Dan’s prelim time was 4:41.13, and he cut his time to 4:34.70 in the finals. Dan’s time in this event in 2016 was about ten seconds slower, and he was still 4th, showing the tremendous competition in this event.
  • 200 Free: 7th Dan Frederick
  • 200 Medley Relay: 5th Zach Milke, Jake Huttenlocher, Josh Hodges, and Hunter Broski
  • 200 Individual Medley: 6th Josh Hodges, 8th Jake Huttenlocher

  • 100 Fly: 7th Josh Hodges *Note: Josh was in a 3-way tie for a spot after the prelims, and had to do a “swim off” against swimmers from GP South and UDJ to earn a spot in the Finals and earn a medal in the top 8.
  • 100 Breast: 7th Jacob Babe, 8th Jake Huttenlocher
  • 400 Free Relay: 4th Zach Milke, Dan Frederick, Jacob Babe, and Jake Huttenlocher *Zach broke his own 100 freestyle record in the first leg of this event (46.46.31).
