The 300th anniversary of the entrance to eternal life of Saint John Baptist de La Salle will be observed by a year of celebration and reflection in the Lasallian World and at De La Salle Collegiate.
On Friday, Nov. 30, De La Salle Collegiate began their celebration of the tricentennial.
The theme of the 300th anniversary – St. John Baptist de La Salle died on April 7, 1719 – is a year of Lasallian Vocations, a year to celebrate the many Lasallian vocations – Brothers, Lasallian partners in ministry, students, alumni, parents – in the world-wide institute, and to reflect upon our call as Lasallians to be people of faith, service, and community.
The logo for the tricentennial year features a large 300 surrounded by the words: One Heart. One Commitment. One Life.
Each Lasallian shares in the heart, commitment, and life of Saint La Salle through their ministry to young people, especially those most in need. Pope Francis has also declared this year as a Jubilee Year (a Holy Year) for Lasallians. The year extends through the Church’s liturgical year, i.e. Advent 2018-Advent 2019.
During the year, the Campus Ministry team will be planning a series of activities for all constituencies of the De La Salle Collegiate communities – students, teachers and staff, parents and alumni.
